Social: PhilanthropistWalter E. Disney was born an American in Burbank, California. Walt Disney was known for his film productions, voice actor, entrepreneur, animator, and also a philanthropist. A philanthropist is a person who puts in effort or inclination to increase the well-being of humankind, as by charitable aid or donations (Free Dictionary). His goal was to reach out to communities and to advertise happiness to children and their families. In order for Walt Disney to make that happen he started with numerous donations mainly focusing on charities for children.
In his earlier charity days, Walt started a volunteer project for the children located in Los Angeles. Walt begun to bring in his drawings of his animations for the children. Walt believed, "Having spent most of my life creating material for children and observing their potential, I feel convinced that a full-time education for our youth is the best investment in the future". He wanted to more than just donate to children in need but also created the Walt Disney Company Foundation, which supported education and also scholarships for colleges.
Walt Disney, an ambitious philanthropist has impacted many people all around the world. "But, when it comes to the magic of charity, most of our efforts are in a supporting role. Innovator Through Art
Walter E. Disney is a “pioneer in animation who brought his personality to his films” (The Biography Channel). He grew up with an interest in the arts. At an early age he began selling some of his sketches to his neighbors and family friends. During high school he attended an art school at night to strengthen his abilities. Walt started a series of animated stories, intrigued with the art form of creating a cartoon. His first try was not successful and he moved to Hollywood to be with his brother; they set up a work area in his grandfather’s garage.
In 1928 Disney created a cartoon character named Mickey Mouse, who starred in the world’s first synchronized sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie. Technicolor was then introduced to the animation world. Disney held the patent for two years allowing him to be the only person to produce Technicolor animated cartoons. Not long after Technicolor was introduced Disney created the first full length Technicolor animated musical feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. Walt had a vision for educating and created many nature films opening the eyes of many people to wildlife around the world. Walt assisted the California Institute of the Arts saying “ ‘... If I can help provide a place to develop the talent of the future, I think I will have accomplished something’ “. Disney’s animation is known around the world.
