Characteristics of Bullies
- Have to feel powerful and in control at all times
- Do not feel sorry for their victims - Say that their actions are a result of their victims provoking them - Usually defiant to adults - Antisocial - Likely to break rules - Little anxiety - Possess high self-esteem (Banks, 1997, 1-2). |
Characteristics of Victims
- Anxious
- Insecure - Cautious - Have low self-esteem - May lack social skills and have few friends - Socially isolated - Close to their parents Passive Victims - Avoids confrontation - Quiet - Does not tease others - Does not defend himself - Withdrawing rather than fighting back Reactive Victims - Attacks back - Causes violence - In some cases may turn into the bully - Bully others when bullied (Banks, 1997, 1-2). |
